HUZZAH!!! Health update
Caoimhe's been given a clean bill of health.
Her kidneys are operating at normal capacity. The extremely distended one has reduced in size and now equals the size of the smaller kidney. The ureters are still visible but will shrink in time. There is no blockage--repeat no blockage. Her muscles aren't quite strong but in the many cases where this has been documented, the muscles strengthen as children grow.
There's nothing surgery can do about weak muscles. No surgery is necessary.
Happy mother's day, indeed.
There's still the matter of the Sunken Chest Syndrome she's inherited from her father, but getting that corrected is a matter of vanity rather than a concern about the functionality of vital organs. I'll look into getting it corrected simply because I don't want my daughter to suffer extreme ridicule about a lopsided chest when she hits her teens.
Also, the more we learn about Spectrum disorders, the more we suspect that Aria's close proximity to Asperger's is inherited. Our extended family exhibits strong indicators of the anti-social gifted savants found in that range. Just a bit of food for thought.
