My uber-cool, super-awesome neighbor mentioned obtaining some 'grow your own mushroom' kits while at a sustainability conference. I have no idea what conference she attended and online searches for "grow your own mushroom kits" bring up quite a few resources, but I'm glad to know that this is something that can be obtained locally.

Revisiting info in an older post, http://www.cheesemaking.com is a good source for cheesemaking supplies and learning the basics.

In other news, I was pleased to see in last Sunday's local paper that Huntington has embraced the concept of community gardens: http://www.huntingtoncommunitygardens.com/

They're always looking for assistance and volunteers. Don't have your own garden? Feel you have a toxic thumb? Learn from others and toil in a community plot. You'll find yourself enjoying it more the more you do it.

Market Fresh on Thursdays down by Pullman Square -- that's today! I'm told by one of the organizers that there are all kinds of goodies available this week as more local farmers have more things coming up. In addition, the eggs are from free range chickens in the tri-state area.

Random aside: anyone ever tried the flowers of arugula? Wow... pine nut in floral form. AWESOME!

Ah, the joys of eating well!
